Men's Tennis Downed by John Jay

FLUSHING, N.Y.—The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team suffered their first loss in three matches, dropping a 9-0 decision to John Jay College on Thursday evening at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

John Jay (5-9) jumped ahead quickly surrendering just two games en route to sweeping the three doubles matches.

The Bloodhounds continued to control singles play with senior Dickson Tan (Brooklyn, N.Y./East-West School of International Studies) nearly disrupting the sweep falling in a close opening set, 7-5, before dropping the second set 6-2.

Senior Nolan Parr (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook Central) headed the Bears (3-7) lineup for the first time this season and saw his six-match overall winning streak snapped in doubles play and his three-match singles streak halted with a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 1 singles to Yevgeniy Remennik.

St. Joseph's will look to rebound on Saturday, April 25 resuming Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Culinary Institute starting at 1 p.m. A Bears victory would lock up a second-place finish in the conference play for the first time in team history.
