Vukosavovic Selected as Skyline Men's Tennis Player of the Week

NEW YORK — Leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team to their first season-opening victory in their 10-year history, sophomore Vaso Vukosavovic (Clifton, N.J./St. Andrews School) has been selected as the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced by the league office yesterday in its first weekly report.

Vukosavovic led the lineup in the Bears 8-1 triumph over York College on Saturday. After teaming up with Kevin Caicedo for an 8-4 victory in the top doubles match, he cruised past Rahim Houston to win at No. 1 singles at love, 6-0, 6-0.  The Bears swept the three doubles matches and won all five singles matches in straight sets to win their season opener.

It is the first men's tennis player of the week honor garnered by a Bear since joining the league last season.

The Bears (1-0) will open Skyline Conference play against three-time defending champion and preseason league favorite Yeshiva University tomorrow at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
