Urshela Named HVIAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week For The Fourth Time This Season

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball senior Raul Urshela (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) has received Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's volleyball Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office earlier today.

In the Bears regular season finale versus Webb, Urshela pounded 17 kills and set a new St. Joseph's record .520 hitting percentage. The senior middle also brought up six digs and stuffed five blocks in leading the Bears to a straight-set victory that clinched the first .500-or-better season in Bears history.

The award is Urshela's league-tying fourth selection this season and the 11th time in his career, the most in Bears history.

Urshela and the 10-9 Bears will wrap up their 2015 campaign seeking their first conference title at the HVIAC Tournament on Wednesday, April 15 at Yeshiva University. The No. 3 seeded Bears will take on Clinton Hill rival and No. 2 seeded Pratt Institute in the semifinals at 6 p.m. having split the regular season series at 1-1.
