Urshela Concludes Career With Third All-HVIAC Men's Volleyball Team Selection

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Wrapping up an impressive four-year career having rewritten the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball record book, senior Raul Urshela was named to the 2015 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Team at the conclusion of yesterday's HVIAC Tournament.

The senior middle hitter led the Bears to their best record in program history this season, leading the HVIAC in blocks (1.19 per set) and ranked second in the league in kills (4.15 per set), hitting percentage (.290) and points (5.4 per set) in conference play this season.

Urshela was named Player of the Week a league-high-tying four times, collecting the award a Bears-record 11 times in his career. He receives All-HVIAC honors for the third time also earning the distinction in 2012 and 2014.

The Orlando, Florida native wraps up his illustrious career as the all-time Bears leader in kills (841), kills per set (3.03), attack percentage (.164) attack attempts (2378), solo blocks (98), block assists (90), total blocks (187), blocks per set (0.67), points (1071.0), points per set (3.9), sets played (278) and matches played (79).

Prior to his freshman year, the Bears amassed just two wins in three seasons and in each of his four years, the Bears set new program records for wins, finishing with their first .500 season this year and totaling a 31-49 record over his career.
