Men and Women Complete Cross Country Season at Hudson Valley Championships

PURCHASE, NY – The Hudson Valley continues to get beautiful weather for their cross country championships, held at Purchase College. St. Joseph's men's and women's teams capped off their seasons on the warm and sunny afternoon.

Teresa Mangan (Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph's) led the women finishing sixth overall over the 5K course with a time of 22:50. Mangan went out, staying with overall winner Jackie DeGrandpre of the Culinary Institute over the first half of the race. DeGrandpre won the women's individual title for the second consecutive season.

Completing the scoring for St. Joseph's were Michelle Chionchio (Staten Island, NY/Fontbonne), Erica Brown (Brooklyn, NY/St. Joseph's), Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) and Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch). The Lady Bears finished in seventh place overall.

The Culinary Institute captured the team title with their top three finishers all coming in the top-five.

On the men's side Joe Mendez (Glendale, NY/St. Francis Prep) led the way for the Bears. Mendez set a new personal record with a time of 37:19 for 8,000 metres. Jan Rogowski(Woodside, NY/St. John's Prep) followed him with a personal record of his own, also breaking 38 minutes, finishing in 37:56.

Rounding out the scoring for the men who finished sixth overall were Mike Cundari(Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's), Vinny Rossi and Danny Contant (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian).

Yeshiva Univerity took home the men's title with 30 points
