Lisa Scheer Named AD3I Player of the Week and USCAA Co-Pitcher of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – In recognition for her outstanding play for the week ending April 19, freshman Lisa Scheer(Queens, NY/Mary Louis) was named Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Co-Pitcher of the Week in announcements released by both associations earlier today.  This is her first time receiving either honor.

Scheer, a pitcher/third baseman for the St. Joseph's College softball team, led the Lady Bears to a 6-0 record this week, thanks to her outstanding play in the circle and at the plate.

In the circle, the freshman hurler went 3-0, including two complete game shutouts against New Rochelle and New York University where she surrendered three hits over 14 innings of work.  Against New York University, she tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out 11 and walking none as the Lady Bears won 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh with a walk off run to break a 0-0 tie.  For the week, Scheer had a 1.33 ERA (21.0 innings), allowing eight hits, striking out 25, and walking only two.

Scheer carried a seven game hitting streak at the plate that was broken in the first game of the NYU doubleheader.  On the week, she compiled a .333 batting average, .389 slugging percentage and .381 on-base percentage, scoring seven runs and driving in five with a double and two walks.
