Lady Bears Softball Accepts Bid to USCAA National Tournament

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The St. Joseph's College softball team formally accepted a bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament.  Bids were extended to seven teams on Friday by the association with the eighth bid going to the winner of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for May 6-8 in Decatur, Illinois hosted by Robert Morris College-Springfield. This will be St. Joseph's third appearance in the national tournament. In their last appearance in 2007, the Lady Bears finished in fourth place out of six teams. The full tournament bracket will be released by the association soon.

The Lady Bears were ranked fifth in the last USCAA coaches' poll released last week and currently have a record of 20-8 after defeating Brooklyn College this past weekend.  St. Joseph's will conclude their regular season with home doubleheaders against St. Joseph's-LI and USCAA rival Briarcliffe College.
