Alyson Chiaramonte Sweeps Weekly Accolades

BROOKLYN, NY – Recognizing her outstanding performance during the week ending April 12, freshman pitcher/outfielder Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) was named AD3I Player of the Week, USCAA Pitcher of the Week and HVWAC Pitcher of the Week.

Chiaramonte led the Lady Bears to a 5-1 record highlighted by pitching the first perfect game in St. Joseph's College – Brooklyn history.  The feat came in a HVWAC conference game against Sarah Lawrence College where she retired all 15 batters she faced striking out seven during a 10-0 victory in five innings.  Chiaramonte also helped her cause from the plate, hitting 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, two runs and recording the game-winning RBI in the first inning.

For the week, Chiaramonte posted a 3-0 record in the circle, pitching three complete games, with a 0.39 ERA (18.0 innings), holding opposing batters to a .113 batting average.  She struck out 24, issuing no walks and giving up seven hits and one earned run.

Chiaramonte also had a solid week at the plate compiling a .389 batting average and .667 slugging percentage.  She homered once, with two doubles, one walk, six RBI and four runs scored.  Her nine-game hitting streak, tops for any Lady Bear this season, came to an end against Old Westbury, but has built a three-game hitting streak since.
