Krista Larotonda picked up a hit and scored the lone run for City Tech (0-11).  Lizzette Sepulveda had a double, the Yellow Jackets only extra-base hit, and an RBI.

St. Joseph's returns to action on the road this Saturday, April 10 facing USCAA #6 ranked Briarcliffe College in a twinbill starting at noon.  The Lady Bears were ranked one spot behind the Seawolves at #7 in the latest USCAA Softball Coaches Poll released earlier today.

Game 1 – St. Joseph's 9, City Tech 0 (5 innings)

St. Joseph's scored three runs in the opening frame started by leadoff walks by Malvasio and Vargas.  Scheer followed with a single up the middle to bring both of them home.  Palmieri later hit a two-out double to score Scheer.

The Lady Bears knocked five hits in the third, scoring five runs on RBI base knocks from Castello, Malvasio, Scheer, Palmieri and Girardi to reach the eight-run threshold. Melissa Simo (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) drove in St. Joseph's single run in the fourth.

Chiaramonte remained in complete control in the circle allowing only two base runners.  She issued a walk in the second and a two-out infield hit in the fourth snapped the no-hitter.  Neither runner advanced to second base.

Game 2 – St. Joseph's 15, City Tech 1 (5 innings)

St. Joseph's sent 11 batters to the plate in a wild first inning where the Lady Bears scored six runs on four hits taking advantage of five walks and one hit batter.

The Yellow Jackets could do little to stop the Lady Bears who combined for 12 hits in the game and plated four runs in the second, two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth.

Vargas had an impressive outing in her first collegiate start, surrendering only one run on two hits, both coming in the third inning when Larotonda led off with a single and Sepulveda hit a two-out double to deep left field scoring Larotonda from first.  Vargas closed out her first win of the season retiring the Yellow Jackets in order in the final two innings.
