Chiaramonte Named USCAA & AD3I Softball Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) led the St. Joseph's College softball team to a 4-0 start to their 2010 season earning two wins on the mound and batting .727 (8-for-11) and was selected as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Pitcher of the Week and Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week for games ending March 21 as announced in releases by both Associations earlier today.

On the mound, Chiaramonte hurled nine scoreless innings, surrendering six hits and striking out 20.  Against City Tech, all 12 of her outs came by strikeout.

Chiaramonte helped her cause at the plate compiling a .727 batting average, a .727 slugging percentage and .769 on-base percentage, while collecting seven runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases.

A member of the USCAA First-Team All-American and AD3I First-Team All-Independent last season, this is the third time in her career Chiaramonte has received USCAA Pitcher of the Week and AD3I Player of the Week honors.
