Scheer and Malvasio Tabbed for USCAA, AD3I and HVWAC Weekly Accolades

BROOKYLN, NY – Recognizing their outstanding play in a week that the Lady Bears picked up five wins, Lisa Scheer (Bayside, NY/Mary Louis) was named Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week and selected as Pitcher of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC).  Freshman Millicia Malvasio (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) was named HVWAC Player of the Week and given USCAA Honorable Mention.

Scheer compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.80 ERA and 23 strikeouts.  Scheer tossed her first career no-hitter in an 18-0 win over College of New Rochelle, with her only blemish a leadoff walk in the fifth inning that separated her from a perfect game.  She also had a productive week at the plate, batting .400 (10-for-25) with six runs scored, four runs driven in and two doubles.  It is the first time receiving the honors this season, having been selected twice by USCAA and once by AD3I last season.

Malvasio had a fantastic week at the plate compiling a .682 batting average and a 1.045 slugging percentage.  The freshman shortstop drove in six runs and scored six times, with five doubles, and her first career home run.  It is the first time being selected for either accolade.
