Chiaramonte Named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Year

OVERLAND PARK, KS – Adding to her long list of accolades, junior pitcher/outfielder Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) was named the 2010-2011 Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season.

Chiaramonte was selected as the 2011 AD3I Softball Pitcher of the Year and was the 2010 AD3I Softball Player of the Year. The dual-position player led St. Joseph's to a 26-9 record by going 17-3 in the circle and tossing two no-hitters. She compiled a 1.11 ERA with 154 strikeouts and just 12 walks, and was ranked in the top three in many of the AD3I's major pitching categories.

She also garnered one Player of the Week nod during the 2011 season and was the Student-Athlete of the Month for March. Chiaramonte paced her team on the opposite side of the plate as well. She accumulated a team-leading .475 batting average with a .646 slugging percentage and a .527 on-base percentage. Additionally, she produced 47 hits, 37 RBI, two home runs, three triples, a pair of doubles and eight stolen bases.

Chiaramonte was awarded with AD3I First Team All-Independent honors, in addition to her United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) First Team All-American and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) All-Conference Team honors. She has earned a spot on each team in all three years of her career.

Chiaramonte is the first and only St. Joseph's College student-athlete to be named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Year.

Dual sport student-athlete Kevin Keltner of Lancaster Bible College was named the 2010 AD3I Male Student-Athlete of the Year. The Association of Division III Independents consists of 13 Division III independent institutions and sponsors nine sports.
