Scheer and Chiaramonte Take Home AD3I, HVWAC Weekly Honors

BROOKLYN, NY – Senior pitcher/third baseman Lisa Scheer (Bayside, NY/Mary Louis) has been recognized by both the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) and the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) as the Player of the Week in both conferences.

For the week, Scheer went 1-0 in the circle tossing her third career one-hitter against New Rochelle on March 23.  In the 12-0 win, Scheer struck out five and walked none over five innings work.  At the plate, Scheer was a combined 3-for-4 in both games and reached base six times driving home five runs and scoring three herself with two doubles and three walks.

This is the third time in her career that Scheer has been named the AD3I Player of the Week and the first since April 2010.

Scheer's teammate and fellow pitcher Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) also garnered some HVWAC recognition being named the conference's Pitcher of the Week.  In game one of the Lady Bear's doubleheader with New Rochelle, Chiaramonte hurled her fifth career no-hitter.  Chiaramonte struck out 11 in five innings with the only base-runner reaching on an error in the fourth inning.

St. Joseph's has a pair of doubleheaders this weekend starting with a road game against York (N.Y.) on Saturday and a home battle with Notre Dame (Md) on Sunday.
