Chiaramonte and Molinari Collect Weekly Softball Accolades

BROOKLYN, NY – Recognizing their outstanding performances during a 6-0 week where the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team extended their winning streak to 15 games, senior pitcher/outfielder Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) and freshman second baseman/catcher Cassandra Molinari (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) collected Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors from the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I), United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC).

Chiaramonte was selected as AD3I Player of the Week, USCAA Pitcher of the Week and HVWAC Player/Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding performance in the circle tossing a one-hitter and back-to-back perfect games, the third and fourth of her career. Chiaramonte fired 17 consecutive perfect innings and compiled a 3-0 record in the circle and a 0.74 ERA. She fanned 38 batters on the week and allowed just one walk. Chiaramonte recorded double-digit strikeouts in each of her three wins and tossed her first career seven inning perfect game in the 6-0 victory over John Jay. At the plate, she was 10-for-17 (.588) with seven runs, six RBI, six doubles and a home run, leaving her with a 1.118 slugging percentage.

Molinari was selected as USCAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career and also received HVWAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week. Molinari had a career week pacing the offense and hitting successfully in all six games, batting .750 (12-for-16) and slugging .938.  She accumulated a team-leading 12 runs, eight RBI, three doubles and three walks. Molinari highlighted her week going a perfect 6-for-6 with five RBI, five runs and two doubles over a doubleheader sweep of John Jay.

The Lady Bears (15-8) return to action on Thursday, April 19 taking on the College of Mount Saint Vincent looking to rebound from a pair of narrow one-run losses yesterday at the hands of Old Westbury.  First pitch will be at 6 p.m. at Sprout Brook Park in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.
