Perillo Tabbed USCAA Pitcher and AD3I Player of the Week; Molinari Crowned USCAA Top Player

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Junior Jackie Perillo (Howard Beach, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) earned United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Pitcher of the Week and Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week honors, while fellow junior Cassandra Molinari (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was tabbed the USCAA Player of the week after the duo helped lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team to their sixth consecutive conference title.

Perillo had a great all-around performance for St. Joseph's at the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Tournament, earning MVP honors as she pitched a complete game four-hitter in the championship game, while going 3-for-4 over the course of two games at the plate with six runs scored, a home run and three RBI.

In the semifinals versus New Rochelle, the junior went a perfect 3-for-3 crushing her second jack of the year while scoring four runs and driving in three runs. The pitcher/outfielder dominated in the title game versus Yeshiva, allowing only one run with six strikeouts to help the Lady Bears move to .500 on the season.

Molinari had another strong week for St. Joseph's, batting .571 (4-for-7) with five RBI and four runs in the tournament. The junior went 3-for-4 in the semifinals versus the Blue Angels, recording her 100th career hit on a home run and finished with four RBI and two runs scored.

In the title game versus the Maccabees, the catcher/second baseman batted 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI to help the Lady Bears secure the hardware.

Both accolades from the USCAA are the first earned by a Lady Bear this season.

Perillo is named USCAA Pitcher of the Week for the second time in her career after earning the honor on April 9th of last year. The junior adds her USCAA top pitcher award to her HVIAC Pitcher of the Week accolade earned on April 22nd. The AD3I award is the first of Perillo's career and she joins freshmen Samantha Rossi and Samantha Simon as the lone Lady Bears to receive the honor this season.

Molinari, a HVIAC All-Conference selection, earns USCAA Player of the Week for the second time in her career having also taken home the honor her freshman year. The junior adds the USCAA accolade to her HVIAC Player of the Week award she received on March 25th.

St. Joseph's (15-15) plays HVIAC foe Yeshiva University today for the regular season title at Sarah Lawrence College beginning at 4:30 p.m.
