Rossi and Delacruz Receive First Skyline Honor Roll Recognition

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Rounding out a bountiful week of conference honors for St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), softball junior Samantha Rossi (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy) and men's volleyball senior Clyde Delacruz (Brooklyn, N.Y./Frederick Douglas Academy II) both earned a spot on the Skyline Conference weekly honor roll announced by the conference office yesterday.

In total, six SJC Brooklyn student-athletes received recognition from the league for games played March 21-27 and both Rossi and Delacruz receive the honor for the first time in their careers.

Rossi slammed a pair of home runs—the third and fourth of her career—and accounted for all four Lady Bears runs in a pair of pitchers' duels against University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday. Over the twinbill, the junior left fielder batted 3-for-5 (.600) and slugged (1.500) amassing four RBI and two runs scored.

In the only game on the week for the Bears, Delacruz rattled off 11 kills against no errors in 13 swings for a career-best .846 hitting percentage helping SJC sweep the season series with Sarah Lawrence College with a straight-set victory last Tuesday and notch their second league win.

Softball returns to action in their first road games of the season resuming Skyline Conference play against Yeshiva University today at 6:30 p.m. at Fordham University. The men's volleyball team returns to the court tomorrow looking to build two-match winning streak against Clinton Hill rivals Pratt Institute at 7:30 p.m. at the Pratt ARC down Willoughby Ave.
