Poppett Nabs Skyline Pitcher of the Week Honors
NEW YORK — After tossing a shutout in her first collegiate start in the circle, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) sophomore Autumn Poppett (San Diego, Calif./Mission Hills) has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played March 7-13, announced by the league office today.
Poppett struck out five, walked none, and scattered four hits in a five-inning, complete-game effort on Sunday in a 15-0 win over Albright College at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Junior Emily Burroughs (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual) received an honorable mention as she finished the three-game week batting 4-for-8 (.500) with three doubles, four RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.
The Bears (2-1) wrap up their trip to Myrtle Beach with a set against Lycoming College and Franciscan University of Steubenville this afternoon starting at 3:30 p.m.
