Hartwig Selected Skyline Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

NEW YORK — St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) senior Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) has been named the Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as the league office announced the Winter/Spring 2021-22 Skyline Scholar-Athletes of the Year yesterday.

The Skyline Player of the Year and First Team honoree in each of the past three seasons, Hartwig adds to her already decorated career. Graduating last May with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average, she also earned CoSIDA Academic Academic All-America® Second Team distinction. She is the fifth Bear in any sport to be named Skyline Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Hartwig left her mark on the Bears Softball record book as the all-time leader in batting average (.521), slugging percentage (.791), on-base percentage (.569), doubles (49), total bases (269), and assists (230), while finishing second in hits (177), runs batted in (127), and home runs (11).

Hartwig led a program-best six selections on the All-Skyline team this season as the Bears finished their season at 24-14 overall — their most wins since 2015 and the sixth-most all-time — and captured third place in the 2022 Skyline Softball Championship — their best finish in program history.

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented in each sport to the first-team All-Skyline performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.
