Women’s Basketball Accepts Bid to USCAA National Tournament
BROOKLYN, NY – Head Coach Frank P. Carbone is proud to
announce that the St. Joseph's College women's basketball team has
formally accepted a bid to compete in the 2010 USCAA National
Basketball Championship scheduled for March 2-6 at Penn State
Fayette in Uniontown, PA.
The Lady Bears will enter the tournament after capturing the 2010
HVWAC conference title with a thrilling 56-53 victory over Albany
Pharmacy on Sunday. The last time St. Joseph's competed in
the USCAA National Tournament was in 2006, the last year the Lady
Bears also won the HVWAC title.
St. Joseph's has earned the #9 seed and will face #8 University of Cincinnati Clermont (24-6) in the
first round on Wednesday, March 3 at noon.
Twelve teams make up the single elimination tournament, with a
consolation bracket guaranteeing two games. Three tournaments
will be held simultaneously, with the Men's Division I and Men's
Division II tournaments also being held at the same site.
Championship week begins with the skills competition and banquet
on Tuesday, March 2, with first round play beginning on Wednesday,
March 3.
