Ten Score as Lady Bears Win Big Over New Rochelle

BROOKLYN, NY – Three Lady Bears scored in double figures and the entire squad contributed at least three points to the box score, taking a 65-36 victory over the College of New Rochelle on Thursday night in a Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference matchup at Brooklyn Technical High School.

The entire St. Joseph's (5-11, 2-0 HVWAC) squad saw significant playing time, clocking in at least 16 minutes of action, and bench scoring (33) nearly matching the Blue Angels.

It is the Lady Bears' largest margin of victory this season; the previous four wins coming by an average margin of 6.8 points.  The Lady Bears post back-to-back wins for the second time this season and remain unblemished in conference play.

Sophomore Kelly McNamee (Glendale, NY/Mary Louis) paced the Lady Bears for the second-straight game with 11 points, on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor.  Junior Danielle Marino (Maspeth, NY/Mary Louis) scored a career-high 10 points, connecting on 4-of-9 shots.  Senior Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) rounded out Lady Bears in double figures, also adding 10. Sophomore Megan Moran (Syosset, NY/St. Dominic) pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and senior Joanne Crimeni (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Ford) dished out a game-and-career-high four assists. 

New Rochelle was led by Alyssa Pechin who tallied 13 points along with five steals, both game-highs. Holly Cammarota chipped in 10 points and Christine Biskup grabbed a game-high 12 boards and had three blocks.

The Lady Bears, who never trailed in the contest, jumped out to a 13-3 lead and never looked back.  The defense limited the Blue Angels to an opponent season-low 19 percent (11-of-59) and forced 24 turnovers, leading to 30 points.

The offense shot better than a 40 percent for the third time this season (26-of-64) and drained a season-high 50 percent (6-of-12) from behind the arc.  The Lady Bears maintained a large advantage on the glass (57-38), winning the battle on the boards for only the third time this season.

St. Joseph's returns to action on Sunday, January 29th travelling to borough rivals Medgar Evers College, looking to build their largest winning streak of the season. The women tip off at 2 p.m. leading another doubleheader with the men.
