Ashley McQuillan Named HVWAC Basketball Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – Senior guard Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) has been named the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for games played through February 5th in an announcement made by the conference earlier this week.

It is the second time McQuillan has received the honor this season and the fifth time in her career.

McQuillan led the Lady Bears to a 2-0 week, extending their win streak to five games. Her week was highlighted by a season-high 27 point effort, 19 coming in the first half, shooting 10-for-19 (53 percent), and leading the Lady Bears to a 60-55 victory over Staten Island, the first over the Dolphins in Lady Bear history.  

McQuillan also scored 10 points as St. Joseph's used a balanced offense to defeat Albany Pharmacy on Saturday to remain undefeated in conference play. For the week, McQuillan averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists and shot 41 percent (14-of-34).

The Lady Bears are riding a seven-game winning streak and look to reach the .500 mark for the first time this season facing Pine Manor College on the road on Friday, February 10th at 7:00 pm in Chestnut Hill, MA.
