McQuillan First Team AD3I, Three Lady Bears Honorable Mention

OVERLAND PARK, KS – For the second time in her career, Lady Bears' senior guard Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) has been named First Team All-Independent by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I).  McQuillan led the Lady Bears in scoring as St. Joseph's made the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in their history.

Also being recognized by the AD3I for their play this season were junior Janine Doran (South Ozone Park, NY/Archbishop Molloy) and sophomores Kelly McNamee (Glendale, NY/Mary Louis) and Megan Moran (Syosset, NY/ St. Dominic's).  All three players receive AD3I honors for the first time in their careers, being named All-Independent Honorable Mention.

McQuillan averaged 13.5 points per game, leading the team in scoring for the fourth consecutive season and concluded her career just shy of the 1,500 mark with 1,486 points.  She also handed out a career-high and team-leading 2.8 assists per game.  McQuillan scored in double-digits in 20 of 26 games and recorded a career-high 12 game streak scoring at least 10 points.  In addition to leading the Lady Bears to their first NCAA tournament appearance, McQuillan was AD3I Player of the Week for the week of January 10th and was named to the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference All-Conference Team for the fourth year. 

Doran averaged over 10 points per game (10.6) for the first time in her career and finished second on the team scoring 266 points.  She also led St. Joseph's in rebounding for the second straight season, grabbing 6.4 caroms per game.  The junior forward showed her durability, leading the team with 29.5 minutes per game.  She also posted a career-high and team-leading four double-doubles.

McNamee contributed 8.0 points per game coming off the bench to play in a career-best 541 minutes.  McNamee led the Lady Bears shooting 49.2% from the field and 82.1% from the free throw line, while connecting on 7-of-20 three-point attempts. She also finished second on the team handing out 51 assists and swiped 27 steals. 

Moran started a career-best 25 games while playing in all 27.  She finished tied for third on the team averaging a career-high 8.0 points per game.  Moran finished second connecting for 43.4% of her field goal attempts and led the Lady Bears with 19 blocked shots.  She set single-game highs with 16 points against Yeshiva and 13 rebounds against St. Joseph's College, Long Island.
