Retas Repeats as AD3I Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, KAN – Samantha Retas (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) has been recognized as the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after leading St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) to a 2-1 mark during the week.

The sophomore averaged 19.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in leading the Lady Bears to wins over The King's College (NY) and Lehman College. Retas shot 53 percent from the field (25-for-47) and recorded a pair of double-doubles against St. Joseph's College (L.I.) and Lehman College. The sophomore's week was highlighted by a career-high 23 points on 11-of-17 shooting along with 11 caroms and five assists in the win over Lehman.

Retas was also named to the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) honor roll for her play over the past week.

The award is the third for the Lady Bears this season with Retas having been named USCAA Player of the Week last week as well.

The Lady Bears return to the court Saturday, December 22nd when they travel to Staten Island to take on the College of Staten Island. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
