Mangan Sweeps USCAA, AD3I and HVWAC Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After exploding for a career-high 27 points in the victory over Pomona-Pitzer, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior guard Teresa Mangan (Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph's) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 30, 2012.

Mangan single-handedly sparked the Lady Bears come-from-behind victory over Pomona-Pitzer, scoring 16 points in a span of 3:14 during a pivotal, late, second-half 18-0 run that erased a seven point deficit and put the St. Joseph's up for good. She finished the game shooting 10-for-18 from the field and 7-of-13 from behind the arc, her seven three-pointers matching a school record.

Over the 1-1 week for the Lady Bears, Mangan averaged 17.0 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor.

The weekly accolades are the first for the senior in her career from either conference.  Mangan is the second Lady Bear to be recognized this season, with sophomore Samantha Retas a three-time AD3I award winner and USCAA and HVWAC selection once already this season.

St. Joseph's (5-6) opens 2013 with the first of five straight home games, welcoming Purchase College to Brooklyn Technical High School on Thursday, January 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
