Senior Night

The Bear Facts

  • With two games remaining, the Lady Bears look to finish off the regular season strong sitting in playoff position in sixth place.
  • SJC comes off a 79-66 victory over Yeshiva on Saturday behind 18 points from both Erica Eddy and Destiny Marino. Kristen Candelaria scored a season-best 12 points and flirted with a double-double with eight rebounds. Brittany Cervino chipped in nine points and grabbed a career-high eight boards off the bench.
  • The Lady Bears look to split the season series with the Knights after suffering a lopsided decision in Newburg just over two weeks ago, but Mount Saint Mary has yet to win in Brooklyn in the short all-time series.
  • In the early meeting, Destiny Marino led SJC with 16 points, three boards and three assists and Erica Eddy added 15 points with three trifectas. Samantha Simon and Victoria Porcasi added eight points each.
  • Destiny Marino has scored in double figures in 19 straight games and lifter her average to 18.0 points a game, now second in the league, and her 175 free throw attempts ranks 4th in the nation. Named to the Skyline honor roll for the fifth time on Monday, she ranks third in the league in steals (2.5).
  • Two-time Rookie of the Week Victoria Porcasi ranks second on the team in scoring 13.8 points an outing and has logged six 20-plus point games this season. The sniper still sits atop the Skyline in FT% (82.8) and is 3-point FG% (38.6).
  • Senior Erica Eddy has had the hot hand since the Sage game connecting on 41.8% (33-79) of her attempts and half of her three-point attempts (17-34), ranked second in scoring over the stretch (14.7 ppg).

The Skyline Scenario

  • With a two-game lead in the final playoff spot, the Lady Bears can clinch a playoff berth with a win tonight and an SJC Long Island loss at Farmingdale tonight.
  • Should the Lady Bears finish in a two-way tie with the Golden Eagles for the final spot, Brooklyn holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with a sweep of the series.

The Knightly News

  • Mount Saint Mary sits in fourth place in the league standings with a half-game lead over Farmingdale State in fifth. The Knights enter tonight's game having dropped two of their last three, snapping a two-game skid with a non-conference win over Mount Ida on Tuesday.
  • In the first meeting against SJC, Kayla Cleare tallied a double-double with game highs in points (25) and rebounds (12). Bridget Kelly finished with 16 points and seven boards and Elizabeth Limonata recorded a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double.
  • Sophomore Jessica Rini leads a balanced attack with 12.7 points and 8.5 rebounds, shooting 41% from the floor. Three-time Rookie of the Week Kayla Cleare adds 9.7 points, 10.9 rebounds (4th in Skyline) and 1.86 blocks (3rd in Skyline).
  • The all underclassmen squad that touts five women at 5-foot-10 and taller leads the league in blocks (5.5, 19th in D3), rebound margin (+11.0, 10th in D3) and scoring defense (52.6, 30th in D3).
