Lavelle Scores Twice as Women’s Soccer Downs Pratt for Second Straight Win

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Freshman Julia Lavelle (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy) scored a pair of goals and sophomore Anisah Molic (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) added a tally and two assists to lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team (2-2) to a 3-1 triumph over Clinton Hill rivals Pratt Institute (0-4) on late Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

Lavelle opened the scoring in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season, receiving a pass from Molic and beating a defender on the right side for a 1-0 lead. SJC's one-score advantage held for most of the half until the 40th minute when Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) found Molic inside the box who tapped it in from close range pushing the score to 2-0 at the half.

St. Joseph's never trailed on the night and remained ahead 2-0 for the majority of the second, but Aubrey Howard of Pratt knocked in a rebound in the 70th minute to make it a one-goal game (2-1). The momentum didn't last long though as a minute later (71') Lavelle found the back of the net again, corralling another pass from Molic and scoring inside the box for a game-sealing 3-1 lead.
