De Rosa Scores as Women’s Soccer Falls to Sarah Lawrence on Senior Night

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Junior Rebecca De Rosa (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) provided the scoring for the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team (6-9, 1-6 Skyline), leveling the score in the second half, however, a pair of goals saw Sarah Lawrence College (12-4, 7-2 Skyline) earn a 3-1 win on Tuesday night from a rainy and damp Aviator Field.

How it Happened

Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) opened the game with two early chances but was unable to convert. At the 19 minute mark, Tiffany McBrayer set up Lily Halloway for the opening goal to put the Gryphons up 1-0. Following the goal, senior Lauren Quesada (Westbury, N.Y./St. Francis Prep), who was honored in Senior Night ceremonies prior to the match, stopped three Gryphon shots to preserve the one-goal deficit heading into halftime.

Four minutes into the second half, De Rosa ripped a shot from the top of the 18, finding the left post to even the score. The visitors regained the lead at the hour mark when McBrayer found Niki Dalrymple. The 71st minute saw the McBrayer-Dalrymple partnership add an insurance goal, with McBrayer completing her hat trick of assists, to give Sarah Lawrence the 3-1 victory.

For the Bears

  • Quesada picked up four saves on the night, two better than her opposition.
  • De Rosa's goal was her fifth of the season and first in Skyline play.
  • Sequiera took four shots in the contest with one finding the face of goal.
