Women's Soccer Stumbles at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 road loss to SUNY College at Old Westbury on in Skyline action on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

Four early saves from Reem Shaban (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Utrecht) over the first 13 minutes helped keep the hosts off the board, but the Panthers (10-8 , 4-5 Skyline) finally pushed one through in the 24th minute. The Bears (6-10, 1-7 Skyline) had a flurry of shots over the next five minutes trying to equalize but the game remained 1-0 at the intermission with Shaban finishing with five first-half saves and Old Westbury holding a 14-6 shot edge.

The Panthers scored just over six minutes into the new half and finished with three second-half goals in a span of six minutes to separate from the Bears.

For the Bears

  • Shaban finished with six saves in a losing effort.
  • Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) and Christina DiBartolo (Middle Village, N.Y./Forest Hills) fired off four shots each.
