Farmingdale State Upends Women’s Soccer

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team (4-3-1, 1-2-0 Skyline) were dealt a 9-0 defeat at the hands of defending Skyline Conference champions Farmingdale State College (6-4-0, 3-0-0 Skyline) on Wednesday night.

How it Happened

The Rams were awarded a penalty in the fifth minute which was converted by Julissa Martinez. The hosts proceeded to grab three goals in two minutes in the 11th before ending the half up 5-0.

Second-half scoring for Farmingdale State began in the 50th minute with Martinez getting her second in the 52nd. The Rams added a pair of goals in the 69th minute to seal their 9-0 win.

The Bears saw their lone shot of the game occur in the 72nd minute when Christina Di Bartolo (Middle Village, N.Y./Forest Hills) played a corner that found Briana Gomez (West Hempstead, N.Y./Kellenberg) in the box however her shot was cleared away by a pair of defenders.

Between the sticks, Reem Shaban (Brooklyn, NY./New Utrecht) made a career-high 17 saves; eclipsing her previous best of 16 set in September 2018 against Staten Island.
