Women’s Soccer Unable to Hand Manhattanville First League Loss

BROOKLYN, N.Y. —  The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 defeat to Manhattanville College on Tuesday evening in Skyline Conference Action at Aviator Field.

How it Happened

Manhattanville (5-2-2, 3-0-1) opened the scoring in the fifth minute on Natalie Aracena's shot from the top of the box. The Valiants found the back of the net again in the 38th minute when Ashley Hayes put back in a rebound off an Aracena shot and they took a 2-0 lead into the locker rooms.

The visitors tacked on a trio of second-half goals in a span of less than eight minutes from Brigid Sullivan, Margaret Gocha, and Kelly Barrera to break the game open and maintain their unblemished league record.

For the Bears

  • Making her first start in goal, Sierra Bedrin (Rocklin, Calif./Whitney) finished with 14saves.
  • Senior Christina Di Bartolo (Middle Village, N.Y./Forest Hills) recorded the lone shot.
