Castaneda Selected Second Team All-Skyline; Bedrin Named to All-Sportsmanship Team

NEW YORK — Following an 11-goal rookie campaign, Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) was selected to the All-Skyline Conference Second Team while junior Sierra Bedrin (Rocklin, Calif./Whitney) earned a place on the All-Sportsmanship Team. The announcement was made by the league office earlier today.

Starting in all 12 games she played on the season, Castaneda opened her collegiate scoring account with a second-half equalizer on her debut against Pratt. Her tally grew to six following a five-goal outburst in the second match of the year against Valley Forge, which saw the Mamaroneck native named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.

Castaneda placed in the top five in the conference in shots (50) and points (24) while her 11 goals sees her sixth in the Skyline. The freshman also recorded two assists, both of which came in the Bears' home-opening win over St. Elizabeth.

Bedrin appeared in 13 games in her debut season, playing the majority of her games in midfield and registering a pair of shots. She also logged 304 minutes in four starts in goal and finished the campaign with 35 saves.

The Bears concluded the 2021 season in 7th place in the Skyline with a 4-6-0 conference record and a 7-8-1 record overall.

The all-conference teams and Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards are voted on by the Skyline Conference's 11 head women's soccer coaches based on regular-season play.
