Women’s Soccer Draws First Blood Before Falling to Farmingdale State

NEW YORK — The St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) women's soccer team scored an early goal but Farmingdale State College quickly erased their advantage in what ultimately became a 6-1 win for the visitors on Wednesday evening from Randall's Island.

How It Happened

Less than three minutes into the contest, Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) dispossessed a Rams (3-6-1, 3-0) midfielder near the center circle before making a forward run and rifling the games opening goal into the upper 90. However, the Bears' (3-4-1, 1-2) lead was short lived as FSC scored the equalizer six minutes later. Emily Zeblisky scored the eventual game winner in the 14th minute in what was the first goal of a first-half hat trick for the senior forward.

Four minutes before the hour mark, Zeblisky scored her fourth of the match before concluding the scoring in the 74th minute.
