Women's Soccer Shut Out in Season Finale at Mount Saint Mary 

NEWBURGH, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women's soccer team lost their final match of the 2023 season to Mount Saint Mary College, 6-0, on Tuesday evening from Kaplan Field.

How it Happened

The Knights hit the Bears early on in the first half, courtesy of Leah Nemec in the eighth minute. She doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, providing the hosts with a 2-0 at the interval. SJBK saw their lone shots of the match during the first 45 minutes. 

MSMC added a third goal less than 10 minutes into the second half. Three goals found the back of the net in the game's final 11 minutes, including the final two seconds, to see out the 6-0 result for the Knights.

For the Bears

  • Ashley Chimborazo (Elmhurst, N.Y./Maspeth) and Katherine Barrios (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) registered the Bears' lone shots.

  • Julia Marin (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) made 13 saves, finishing the season with 114 saves.

  • The Bears conclude the campaign with a 3-10-1 overall mark and a 2-9 record in Skyline competition.
