Lintner Extends Streak as Tennis Falls to Pratt
BROOKLYN, NY – Making the short trip down Willoughby Avenue, the St. Joseph's College women's tennis (1-7, 1-2 HVWAC) team lost 6-3 to Pratt Institute (4-1, 3-1 HVWAC) in a Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference match on Monday night. Senior Jessica Lintner (Queens, NY/Frank Sinatra) posted two wins to improve to a 5-1 record over the last three matches.
Lintner had to come from behind to preserve her three match singles winning streak, defeating Laurel Ames at 1st singles in a tiebreaker 10-9 (7-3). At 1st doubles, she paired up with Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) to defeat Ames and Angela Hoang 8-6, breaking in the final game to seal the victory. Lintner now has a 2-1 conference record at both singles and doubles.
Bauman narrowly missed her second singles win, falling to Hoang in a tiebreaker 10-9 (7-2). Elizabeth Shea (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and Patricia Nealon (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep) teamed up at 2nd doubles winning 8-6 to earn the only other point for the Lady Bears.
St. Joseph's will face Vaughn College in a conference match on Tuesday, October 20th at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
