Lady Bears Lose Conference Match to Pratt; Crimi Named Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph's College women's tennis team dropped a conference match Tuesday afternoon, falling 9-0 to Pratt Institute. The loss sends the Lady Bears record to 1-6 (1-2 HVWAC) while Pratt advances 5-1 (3-1 HVWAC).

Junior Darcy Crimi (Glendale, NY/Christ the King) delivered a strong performance for the Lady Bears, falling 10-6 to Pratt's Rose Wong in the 5th singles match. Sophomore Elizabeth Stein (Forest Hills, NY/St. Francis Prep) also put forth a strong effort despite dropping the 6th singles match, 10-4 to Olivia Skylarova.

Crimi and partner Christine Parker (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) had another top performance for St. Joseph's College in their 2nd doubles match, falling 8-5 to Rose Wong and Whitney Mills.

In conference news, Crimi was selected as the HVWAC Tennis Player of the Week. For the week ending October 17, Crimi helped lead the Lady Bears to their first victory of the season with wins in both her singles and doubles matches against The College of New Rochelle. This is the first time the junior has received Player of the Week honors.

The Lady Bears will return to the court Thursday, October 21st, hosting City Tech in a non-conference match at the US National Tennis Center starting at 6 p.m.
