Women's Tennis Places 4th At HVWAC Tournament; Bauman and Nealon Named All-Conference

FLUSHING, NY – Senior Christine Parker (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) and sophomore Patricia Nealon (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep) contributed wins at singles and doubles leading the St. Joseph's College women's tennis team to a fourth place finish at the season-ending Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Tennis Championships held on Saturday at the National Tennis Center.

Matched up against Vaughn in the opening round, Parker, playing at #2 singles, and Nealon, playing at #3 singles, advanced with 8-0 victories, falling in the semifinals to Pratt. Nealon's victory was her team-leading fifth.

Nealon paired with Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) at #1 doubles delivered another love win, 8-0, against Vaughn in the opening round. In awards ceremonies after the tournament, Bauman and Nealon were named to the All-Conference Team, their first time receiving the honor.

Parker teamed up with Elizabeth Shea (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) for an 8-3 victory in the opening round over Medgar Evers. Darcy Crimi (Glendale, NY/Christ the King) and Elizabeth Stein (Forest Hills, NY/St. Francis Prep) lost a hard fought match to Pratt in the semifinals of the #3 doubles tournament, falling in a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-3).

After winning the regular season title, Sarah Lawrence captured the tournament championship, producing six of the nine flight champions.
