Lady Bears Secure First Victory Against New Rochelle

FLUSHING, NY – St. Joseph's women's tennis team notched their first victory of the season against Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference rival, New Rochelle. The Lady Bears took down the Blue Angels 6-3 with two wins coming in singles and one in doubles.

Kelly McNamee (Glendale, NY/Mary Louis) picked up her first collegiate win playing at second singles. The sophomore shut-out her opponent 10-0. McNamee also came back for a win at first doubles, teaming up with Darcy Crimi (Glendale, NY/Christ the King) for an 8-2 win. Crimi lost a thrilling match at first singles, 10-8.

Also earning a win for St. Joseph's was junior Patricia Nealon (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep). Nealon, like McNamee, won via shutout, 10-0 at fourth singles.

The Lady Bears hit the court again October 12th, for a road match with Lehman in the Bronx. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
