Bauman, McNamee Named All-Conference; Escalante Coach of the Year

BROOKLYN, NY – Following the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference  (HVWAC) Tournament, two Lady Bears and their coach were recognized for their outstanding effort in the 2011 season. Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) and Kelly McNamee (Glendale, NY/Mary Louis) were named to the All-Conference team and first-year head coach Andres Escalante was named the conference's Coach of the Year.

For Bauman, it is her second time being named All-Conference, also earning the distinction in 2010. The junior played all season at first singles for the Lady Bears, compiling a 1-6 singles record and 2-4 doubles record.

McNamee, a sophomore completed her first season in 2011. McNamee started the year at third singles but moved up during the year to second and occasionally first. McNamee went 5-7 her rookie year including an upset of the number-two seed at second singles in the HVWAC Tournament.

Escalante becomes the second tennis coach to win HVWAC Coach of the Year honors. He guided the Lady Bears to a 5-5 record and a third place regular season finish in his first season with the team.
