Lady Bears Tennis Swept By St. Joseph's (L.I.)
FLUSHING, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team struggled to keep up with their Long Island counterparts, dropping a 9-0 decision to St. Joseph's College (Long Island) on Friday night at the US National Tennis Center.
The Lady Bears (1-3, 1-0 HVWAC) managed to win just three games off the Golden Eagles in singles play, with Kelly McNamee (Glendale, NY/Mary Louis), Krysta Verdone (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place HS) and Patricia Nealon (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep) each taking 10-1 defeats.
The Golden Eagles (7-3, 2-2 Skyline) continued to dominate the doubles competition, surrendering just two games at No. 3 doubles to Teresa Mangan (Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph's) and Shamika Thomas (Brooklyn, NY/St. Joseph's) for the closest match of the night, 8-2.
The Lady Bears will look to bounce back on Sunday, October 14 hosting Albertus Magnus College at the US National Tennis Center starting at 5 p.m.
