Women's Tennis Celebrates Trerotola's Record-Setting Career With Senior Night Match Against John Jay

FLUSHING, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team celebrated Senior Night for Denise Trerotola (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) and concluded their season with an 8-1 non-conference loss to John Jay College on Tuesday evening at the USTA National Tennis Center.

Despite being unable to add to her program records falling 8-5 at both No. 1 singles and doubles, Trerotola concludes her outstanding four-year career with the most singles victories (22) and combined victories (35) in team history. The two-time First Team All-Skyline selection played all but four of her collegiate matches at the top position and has more No. 1 singles victories (19) than the next highest Bear's singles win total (16).

Junior Valentina Velez Valencia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) picked up the lone point for the Bears on the evening, collecting an 8-5 triumph at No. 3 singles

The Bears (2-7, 2-4 Skyline) doubled their combined conference win total over the past three seasons to post their highest finish since joining the league in 2015, finishing in fifth place—just one spot outside of playoff position.
