Hartwig Garners All-Skyline Women’s Tennis Accolades; Alva Named to All-Sportsmanship Team

NEW YORK — Sophomore Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) was named to the Skyline Conference All-Conference second team and senior Daniella Alva (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship team, announced by the league office this morning.

Hartwig compiled a 6-5 overall singles record ascending to the top two positions in the lineup at year's end. She scored straight-set victories in conference play over Sarah Lawrence and Manhattanville and collected non-conference wins over Lehman, York, Albertus Magnus, and John Jay. Her six singles victories fell one shy of tying the single-season program record set twice previously.

She becomes just the second Bear to earn All-Skyline accolades following three-time honoree and volunteer assistant coach Denise Trerotola '19. Hartwig also becomes the first Bears student-athlete in to receive All-Skyline honors in two different sports, having been named Skyline Softball Player of the Year and to the first team this past spring.

Alva captured her 16th overall victory this season picking up a singles win in the No. 2 position and four doubles victories spread across all three slots. She finishes her four-year tenure on the team ranked tied for 11th in both career singles and doubles wins.

The Bears finished their season in seventh place in the Skyline Conference and with a 3-10 overall mark, collected their most wins since joining the Skyline in 2015.
