Lady Bears Down City Tech in Four Sets

BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team notched their fifth win of the season, downing City Tech, 3-1 (25-9, 25-15, 24-26, 25-13) in a non-conference matchup between the local Brooklyn schools on Thursday night. The Lady Bears improve to 5-12 on the season.

The Lady Bears grabbed the first two frames with relative ease. In the second set, St. Joseph's broke away from the Yellow Jackets, who trailed by one point, winning the last nine points for a 25-15 victory. City Tech took a see-saw third set in extra points, 24-26, forcing a fourth set, but St. Joseph's dominated the set from start to finish to earn the victory.

Senior outside hitter Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) led the Lady Bears offense recording with a match-high 13 kills nearly equaling the total output of City Tech as a team (15), fell one ace shy of a double-double outing. Junior Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) dished out 25 assists

The Lady Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday competing at the St. Joseph's College – Long Island Invitational, scheduled to play Ramapo, Farmingdale State, Lehman and St. Joseph's-LI.
