Matthews Receives HVWAC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

NEW YORK, NY – Junior outside hitter Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) was named the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played through Sep. 19 in an announcement released by the Conference yesterday.

Matthews continued her strong play that earned her Rookie of the Week honors for the previous week recording her first career double-double with a career-high 14 kills and 12 digs during the loss to Keystone on Saturday.  She followed it up with an 11 kill, five ace performance against St. Elizabeth, leading the Lady Bears to their second win of the season.

For the week, Matthews compiled 32 kills with a .282 hitting percentage, 22 digs and eight aces.

Kathy McCarthy (Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) was named to the honor roll, amassing 23 kills and 23 digs for the week.
