Moran Selected as AD3I Volleyball Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) middle hitter Megan Moran (Syosset, NY/St. Dominic's) registered 29 kills with a .146 hitting percentage for the week ending September 30th, helping to guide the women's volleyball team to a 2-0 record and was selected as the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week.

An AD3I All-Independent First Team selection last season, Moran receives AD3I Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. The junior three-sport student-athlete (basketball and softball) is currently ranked No. 20 in Division III in aces per set, averaging .83 aces per set.

In a come-from-behind five-set victory over King's (NY), Moran put down 13 kills and followed it up with a career-high 16 kills in a four-set win over Staten Island.  For the week, Moran averaged 4.33 points, 3.22 kills and 1.0 aces per set.

Moran joins junior Sabrina Cornia (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place HS) as weekly award winners, Cornia named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Setter of the Week.

Moran, Cornia and the Lady Bears (6-2, 1-0 HVWAC) return to the court tonight for an HVWAC matchup versus borough foes Medgar Evers starting at 7 p.m.
