GaNun Collects Sixth Weekly Honor, Named HVWAC Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman middle hitter Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) has been named Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this year.

The freshman accumulated 43 kills while hitting .294 to go along with nine blocks, helping the Lady Bears remain undefeated in conference play, earning their first HVWAC regular season title since 2008 and locking up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. GaNun recorded double-digit kills in all three matches on the week, highlighted by a career-high-tying 17 kill, four block effort in a five-set victory over York.

Teammate Kim Matthews (Breezy Point, NY/Bishop Kearney) was named to the HVWAC honor roll after she recorded three double-doubles averaging 3.22 kills and 3.11 digs per set. The senior had a season-best 15 kill, 13 dig, five ace effort against St. Joseph's College (Long Island).

The award is the sixth collected by the freshman this season. GaNun has previously been named a two-time HVWAC Player of the Week, USCAA Player of the Week, AD3I Player of the Week and HVWAC Rookie of the Week.
