Serving for a Cure: Lady Bears Volleyball To Host Cancer Awareness Games

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – For every ace the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team lands at their three home matches during the week of October 8 through October 12, the Lady Bears will help raise money to support the fight against cancer as part of its "Serving for the Cure" campaign.

Next week, the Lady Bears will welcome non-conference foes Keystone College (Tuesday, October 9), Brooklyn College (Wednesday, October 10) and John Jay College (Friday, October 12) for a three-match home stand at Brooklyn Technical High School.

The Lady Bears will also don commemorative yellow jerseys for each contest next week. First serve for each match is slated for 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for all St. Joseph's College home games.

Currently ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division III in Aces per Set averaging 3.10 per set, the Lady Bears encourage all fans to make a pledge for every ace they serve during the week.  Fans can also participate by making a fixed donation or by purchasing limited-edition tie-dye t-shirts and bracelets.  All proceeds from the event will go towards the Livestrong Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Pledge forms will be distributed at each match and can be found on the athletic department's website, www.SJCBears.com

Currently ranked No. 15 by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, St. Joseph's (7-2) is off to their best start in the last five years.
