GaNun Leads Five Receiving AD3I Women's Volleyball All-Independent Honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After capturing the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) regular season championship and tournament runner-up, five members of the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team were honored by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) as the All-Independent teams were released earlier this week.

For the second straight season Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) was selected to the first team, while Sabrina Cornia (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller), Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), Anna Carbone (Ozone Park, N.Y./Mary Louis) were placed on the second seam and Megan Moran (Syosset, N.Y./St. Dominic's) received honorable mention.

GaNun was the Lady Bears' top offensive player and was named First Team All-Independent as a middle hitter. Last year's AD3I Rookie of the Year and First Team honoree appeared in all 22 matches for the Lady Bears leading the team with 320 kills and 45 total blocks. The two-time AD3I Player of the Week ranked second in AD3I with 4.10 kills per set and finished fourth in the Association with a .295 hitting percentage. She led St. Joseph's with 10 double-doubles and highlighted her sophomore campaign with 25 kills against Brooklyn College. GaNun also was a United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American honorable mention and an All-HVIAC selection this season.

Cornia helped orchestrate the Lady Bears offense throughout the season and was named Second Team All-Independent as a setter. The senior has now earned Second Team All-Independent honors in all three years she has played for St. Joseph's. The setter led the team with 564 assists and dished out an AD3I-best 7.23 assists per set. Cornia finished the season tied with GaNun with 10 double-doubles and dished a career-high 44 assists against Brooklyn College.

After being named to the All-HVIAC team for the first time in her career, Moncino also earns All-Independent honors for the first time, named Second Team All-Independent as an outside hitter. The junior led the Lady Bears with her 51 service aces and ranked second with 262 digs. Against Yeshiva, Moncino slammed a career-high nine kills and finished with 91 kills for the season.

Carbone also receives AD3I accolades for the first time in her career, taking home Second Team All-Independent honors as an outside hitter. The sophomore led the team with 337 digs and was ranked fourth in the Association. Carbone also contributed 57 kills and finished third on the team with 37 service aces.

Moran is recognized by the Association for the third straight year, this time as an honorable mention. The senior concluded her career ranking second on the team with 257 kills and 24 total blocks. The middle hitter also tallied 153 digs and 34 aces during the year. Moran landed a career-high 20 kills at Brooklyn College.
