Russell Collects Skyline Rookie of the Week Honors
NEW YORK — St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) sophomore Justin Russell (Saline, Mich./Saline) was named the Skyline Conference Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week as the league released its weekly report earlier today.
Competing in the LIU Post Invitational on Saturday, Russell took off over five-and-a-half minutes from his previous best time this season, covering the 8-kilometer course in 27:40, placing 23rd overall against a field of all Division II runners.
Russell's collects the first Skyline accolade in program history posting a time the fastest time by a Bear harrier since Paul Milazzo ran a 27:41 at the HVIAC Championships in 2013.
The Bears continue their season on Saturday, September 30 at the College of Staten Island Invitational at Clove Lakes Park.
