Bio

Tyler Bay was appointed as the head coach for the men's and women's cross country teams in July 2023. With a strong background in athletics, academics, and professionalism, Bay brings valuable experience to lead the program to success.

A former four-year cross country and track and field student-athlete at Queens College, Bay was a member of the East Coast Conference (ECC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship-winning teams in 2013 and 2014 and secured individual titles in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter events in 2013. Bay's dedication to both sports and academics earned him ECC Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2014 and 2015.

Bay graduated from Queens with Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies, graduating summa cum laude, and minors in business and the liberal arts, and journalism. Following a stint in the Queens College athletic department, Bay has been an editor of sociology, social work, and gender studies at the Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group since 2017.

"I am thrilled to take on the role of head cross country coach at St. Joseph's University," remarked Bay, adding "we have a fantastic group of student-athletes already on the team, and along with the rest of the athletic department, I look forward to successes in the classroom and in competition and all the bright moments in between."

A member of both USA Track & Field and the New York Road Runners, Bay resides in Woodhaven, N.Y.
