Top 10 Moments: #5 – A Gym Still Grows in Brooklyn... Project Crosses 1-Year Mark

Top 10 Moments: #5 – A Gym Still Grows in Brooklyn... Project Crosses 1-Year Mark

As Brooklyn Athletics enters its third year of NCAA Division III membership, excitement continues to grow in anticipation of our new facility on Vanderbilt Avenue, which reached the one-year mark on May 21, 2013.

With the continued development of the athletic squads here at St. Joseph’s our 170+ student-athletes will soon have a state-of-the-art facility to call their own. Coming off a successful 2012-13 campaign that included two USCAA National Championship Tournament appearances (Men's Basketball and Baseball), three Hudson Valley Conference Tournament Championships (Women's Soccer, Women's Basketball and Softball) and another Hudson Valley Regular Season  Championship (Women's Volleyball) the timing of this new gymnasium could not be better.

The three-level facility will contain a 270-spectator basketball/volleyball gym with home and visitor locker rooms on the main level and will also feature several trophy cases honoring the history of the campus’ athletic achievements. The second floor mezzanine level contains offices for all coaching staff and athletic department. Onto the third-floor, students, faculty and staff will have access to a fully equipped fitness center, faculty and student locker rooms, an athletic training room and a studio for dance and yoga classes.

More information on the new facility, which is scheduled for completion this winter, can be found on the New Gym Construction Page and on our Facebook page.
